Scott came to First Presbyterian Church in December 2022 to be our lead pastor. He has served churches with distinction and brings a wealth of experience and creativity to this congregation. His spouse, Carrie, serves Trinity Lutheran Church as pastor just one block away. Together, they have two children: Henry and Philip who bring lots of energy to both congregations! You may also meet Oliver who comes to the office occasionally!
Rev. Dr. Carnes earned a Master of Divinity (2010) and a Doctor of Ministry (2020) through Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. He has certifications in Youth Ministry, Family Emotional Processes (Lombard Mennonite Peace Center), and Clinical Pastoral Education (chaplaincy). He is a Rotarian and very involved in the Galesburg community.
